Do Sodium Chlorite flakes smell like chlorine? was created by beyondyours
Hi all,
I bought some sodium chlorite flakes a few months ago and just now got around to mixing them.
I diluted them in water to make Sodium Chlorite.
They don't smell really chlorine-like or chemically. There is a faint smell but not a lot that I would have to pull my nose away like a chlorine puck for a swimming pool.
Is that normal?
Also, if they're supposed to smell like chlorine / or something else quite noticeably, I may need to try another source for the flakes.
Can you recommend a source in Canada?
Thanks everyone. 👍

It is only when you activate the SC with an acid that it starts to give off a smell.

I haven't had a lot of experience with SC but all the times I have handled it it didn't smell like anything to be honest.Hi all,
