For me, personally, I take it separate from food. I have digestive problems, anyway, and I found that I had acid reflux if I took it too close to meals. In fact, I have found that I need to keep my meals smaller so I don't have a full belly when I take my CDS an hour to 2 hours later. I eat 2x's a day. I try to take my first CDS drink when I get up, and wait one hour, and then another dose. I wait 30-45 minutes, and then eat breakfast. Then, won't take another drink of CDS for an hour or two, depending on the size of my breakfast. At lunchtime, I have only homemade juice. I know that fresh fruit can reduce the effectiveness of CDS, but regardless of that, I am seeing some positive changes.
I then take multiple drinks of CDS over the course of the day until dinner time. Once every hour or so. After dinner, I only do the swishing in my mouth of CDS, because if I drink after dinner, I will not sleep because of reflux.
That is my personal experience, and may not be the same for everyone. YMMV.
