It may help. It depends upon what the underlying cause is. Can't hurt to try though.
I currently just put 4 drops of unactivated MMS in each liter of water that I drink so I get 1 drop per every 250ml I drink. I do this with all the water I drink all day long and have done it for over 10 months without any problems.
