Hypothyroid (underactive thyroid)

I am new here but have been following MMS for a while. I have just been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but have not gone for any tests so don't know the reason why my thyroid is being silly. The underactive thyroid was picked up in a routine blood test that I had done because I had been bitten by a tick bite, which made me sick. So was put on doxy antibiotics for 3 weeks.
Just a couple of questions:
Has anyone had this and experienced a feeling of lightheadedness with an underactive thyroid?
Has anyone had any success in treating hypothyroidism with MMS without having to take any prescription drugs?
I am taking iodine (liquid) about 2 drops per day, magnesium, selenium, zinc, vit B5 and eating as healthily as I can. I am due to go have another blood test in a couple of weeks to get further analysis of my thyroid related hormones. I would love to get them back and say that I have normal readings.
Any info would be great.
Hugs

The iodine takes a while to get into your endocrine system and see results.... on average 3 months.
I have posted this brand before... it's the Biotics Research brand of supplements that are Pharmaceutical Grade... meaning that they are usually presecribed by a doctor, and are much more potent than your normal vitamin line.
The iodine that these people have is (in my opinion) better than any brand you can get on the web.... IF you can get a hold of it, as they don't sell it to patients... but they will send it to doctors and Chiropractors for resale. I've taken it for 6 years... and it has helped.
Notice the units are "mg"(milligrams) ... and NOT "mcg"(micro-grams)
Just fyi ...

I have been taking progestE from Kenogen and following the instructions for iodine. Works very well for me.
Good luck.

I am dealing with hypothyroid problems now. I havent visited the doctor in a while and my thyroid was really high in the tests.
Some of the symptoms that I had were problems with my wrists and ankles. They had the feeling like carpaltunnel. I asked my doctor why that was and he told me that the tendons were shredding. Also I had tingling in my fingers and toes, and my shoulders and arm muscles were sore. I have had sore knees for a couple of years. The first medication my doctor put me on was Synthroid but it made me sick so I was put on "Thyroid" which is disected gland ingredients which contain T3 and T4. It is similar to the Armour pill that is sold in US. I am suppose to be on 2 pills per day and I started at half of a pill. At first the pain seemed to be greater than original for a few days then everything would be good for awhile (and the pain in my kneeds totally disappeared which shocked me) then some of the symptoms would come back then I would increase the medication. I am now at one and half pills.
The T3 in the medication at first can hype you up but it is needed for your thyroid problem which Synthroid only contains T4. Many doctors overlook the need of T3 for your body. As time goes by you do adjust and the hyped up feelings go back to normal.
The first improvement I noticed was that my throat was alot clearer and my oxygen levels are higher than normal. I used to sit about 95 for oxygen, now it sits mostly around 97 or 98.
I hope this is of some help.

My underactive thyroid was picked up via a routine blood test I had done. This is not the first time i have been tested for hypothyroidism, as my hair has been getting thinner and thinner for the past 20 years. So doctors tested me on and off over the years but all came back with good thyroid results. So not sure if my hair thinning is a symptom or not. I suffer from extreme tiredness and can fall asleep ultra quickly (any time of day). I also am experiencing slight lightheadedness, which i have had now for 6 or so weeks, but this started almost immediately after i came off an antianxiety drug called Ciprimil, whih I had been taking for 10 years. Apparently this is a known withdrawl symptom.
I have just had extensive blood tests done but do not have the results back. I am also booked in to see an Holistic Doctor in mid December (she is away at the moment) so it will be interesting to hear her interpretation of my blood tests, also what treatment she recommends.
I have been doing some research on taking Iodine internally. I have managed to buy some Lugol's solution. I take 4 drops a day but am keen to increase this dosage with the help (hopefully) of my new holistic MD.
Hope this helps

You said that you take 4 drops of Lugol's daily. My question is how do you take these drops, directly into your mouth under the tongue or on the tongue, on the skin or drink mixed with water?
Just received my bottle of Lugol's and am anxious to try it.

Importance of Stomach Acid

You have heard it said, “You are what you eat”, but in my opinion, it’s more accurate to say “You are what you absorb.” Stomach acid plays an important role in what nutrients you absorb from the food you eat.
